      Description

      [A.Wagner, 2/14/96]

The Java "motif" buttons are visually deficient. There is insufficient white
space around the text which makes the buttons less legible and makes the
screen visually more busy. Busy screens are harder to read and use.

After talking to Herb about this one, he said that is it basically a problem with
how buttons are created. Yes, there are some work-arounds the browser could
use but most of them would result in serious I18N issues.

The bottom line is that the AWT should support a method or set of default
values that allow modification of the amount of white space used.

This will become an even more serious problem with other typefaces like kanji.
