      I'm requesting that the showDocument() method of AppletContext
      raise an exception, e.g. IOException, when the showDocument() fails.
      For example, if the host refered to in the URL is no longer available,
      then the showDocument() to that host would raise the IOException.

      This is needed to build fault tolerant browsers, etc. There is no other
      way to build fault tolerance into an application that uses
      showDocument(). Even if I ping the machine, then do a showDocument(),
      there is a window of opportunity where the machine can crash.
