      Description

Background: Java 1.1.x Solaris no longer supports 8 bit TrueColor displays
(the kind you might find on an X-Terminal). There was support in 1.02, although
      it was buggy.

Question: Will a future release of Java on Solaris have confirmed support for 8 bit TrueColor displays? Is there a patch or workaround for 1.02 or 1.1?

Consequences: We are attempting to deploy Java in an environment with a number
of third party applications that do not play well together with respect to color
allocation. We would like to consider switching our X-terminal environments to
      a TrueColor display.
