        Description

On Solaris 2.5.1, CDE (and perhaps elsewhere), there are two obnoxious color
        problems:

        1. Text boxes (ordinary ones, but not list boxes or non-awt text
boxes) have no 3-D look, but an ugly very black border. the problem is
clearly that a drop shadow that should be a darker version of the form color
is black (I'm reasonably confident that the intended color is the color
we get in problem 2 instead of black).

        2. The text associated with radio buttons and checkboxes show up in a
darker version of the form color rather than black (I don't know what happens
if your color scheme sets the text to white). This makes the items in question
look grayed out (if there is a grayed out item on the page, you can tell that
they are different -- graying out is done by dithering and this is a pure color
-- but without the contrasting item its hard to tell).

To add insult to injury, the problem in 2 sometimes corrects itself on the
fly. That is, if it happens in a window that is a tabbed window or a card
layout, sometimes when you flip views, the problem goes away, only to return
the next time you flip views. I have seen this happen dozens of times, but
I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it.

The problem is not color map full, because I can have other applications on
my desktop behaving correctly at the same time.
