      Hi,

IMO it would be a good thing if javax.swing.JTabbedPane would be extended to
allow users to make selective tabs visible or invisible (i.e. not showing up
      at all).

The reason for this is 2-fold:

      1) It makes it easy to hide tabs whenever the context is such that the tab
doesn't make sense. I now remove the tabs when they are out of context, and
re-add them when that maes sense.
      2) It makes update the UI for the invisible tabs much easier. I now have to
override updateUI for the JTabbedPane (or a parent of it) to make sure that
the components that are not currently displayed in a tab will update their
         UI too.

This applies to JDK 1.2.2 and I've checked out JDK 1.3, but it doesn't have
      this functionality either.
