in the application's textarea, use <ctrl>+<space> to quanpin input method, then input the 'xian' or 'mo' etc, could display the word on the choosen bar. also see the attachment.

but this phenomenon couldn't occure on another motif application.

      ------------
To describe this problem in more details, the problem happens in Solaris 8, both SPARC and x86, on zh_TW.UTF-8 and zh_CN.UTF-8 locales (but not EUC locales). The problem is also observed in earlier version of JDK 1.1.8 as well, but not on 1.2.2.

While running the attached awttest.tar test case, we found that the lookup table sometimes does not display anything (empty box), but if we enter a number to select an (invisible) character, the character will be committed. The problem can be reproduced easily by following steps:

      - login to zh_CN.UTF-8 locale
      - execute the test case: % cd awt/classes; java awttest -command <any chinese character>
      - the awt test case will be displayed.
      - focus your cursor on awt.TextArea
      - type ctrl+space to switch to chinese input method (new quanpin).
      - enter x, notice an empty lookup table appears, if you type 1, a chinese character will be committed.
      - enter xi, this time the lookup table displays 7 character choices correctly.
      - continue to enter an (as part of xian), empty lookup table appears again. select 1, two chinese characters will be committed.
