      Description

      Name: rmT116609 Date: 04/03/2003

      FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
      java version "1.4.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_01-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_01-b01, mixed mode)

      DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
This phrase follows many methods description in the java.nio.XxxBuffer classes:

      "(optional operation)"

What does this mean? Presumably it's not informing the programmer that calling the method is optional, as that's true for all methods. Does it mean that the method is not coded for all platforms, and that I should not use it if
      portability is a goal?

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
      1. see the java.nio.XxxBuffer docs

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      don't know

      REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
