Selecting invalid drive should give more meaningful error message

    Details

    • Subcomponent:
    • CPU:
      x86
    • OS:
      generic, windows_2000, windows_xp

      Description

      Reproducible in both JDK/JRE installer
      Steps to reproduce:
      1) Launch JDK installer
      2) Agree to license agreement and click on next
      3) Now you are in "J2SE Development Kit 5.0 - Custom Setup"
click on change button, It will popup another dialog which
looks like filechooser, here from "Look in" combo select CD drive
and it will display message "Internal Error 2330. 87, D:",
         (Consider attachment "invalid_1.png")
This should rather display meaningful message and should never
         say "Internal Error"
      4) Now in Folder name textfield type
         <CDDRIVE>\Program files\jdks1.5.0\ (CDDrive> to be replace
by cd drive of system, It display following error message
"Error 1324.The path Program files contains an invalid character
         (Consider attach image invalid_2.png)
While here ideally it should say
         - Drive is not valid
         - Or drive is not writable

      MsiExec version on system: 2.00.2600.1183
      OS: Windows 2000 Professional
