      x86
    • OS:
      windows_7

      Description

A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
When Google Chrome Browser is using an outdated extension, a new update is suggessed. oracle (sun) servers in turn sends an installer executable (chromeinstall-XuYY) for this browser.

If browser is hosting a java applet using the mentioned outdated JRE at the time of installation, installer offers an option to automatically kill browser process to be able to begin installation.

After installation, it offers user another option to re-start browser. It starts default system browser (IE for test case) However, the specific browser for which installer was downloaded (Chrome) might not be the default system browser.

      JUSTIFICATION :
      very minor inconvenience..

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      EXPECTED -
installer should restart the browser which has shut down.
      ACTUAL -
installer starts default browser, which is not necessarily the browser it's intended for (and shut down while performing installation).

      CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
      restart chrome browser manually
