While porting a demo application from pulp core (http://www.interactivepulp.com/pulpcore/particles/) I uncovered a performance bottleneck in the blend mode code paths. Run the linked-to demo above and observe the performance of this demo (the linked-to library is a scenegraph built on Java2D). Attached to this bug is a JavaFX port of this example. When blend mode is turned off, performance is reasonable. However, when you run with the blend mode enabled, it crawls to a halt on the Swing stack and simply never renders on prism.
